murder mystery or customised virtual gaming - corporate company

Hi there,
Just wanted to help a friend.
They are looking to try to host a small company event in New York.

Does anyone know of any unique companies out there that specialise in organising a murder mystery event,
or if anyone knows of any virtual gaming companies (i.e. a company that can create a be-spoke game for a company * and host it at a trendy bar or similar)

Many thanks if you do know of anyone!

*the whole game doesn't need to be-spoke or new, but if you could customize characters for work colleague etc then this would be enough)

Well if the gaming involved actual cash it's illegal - so would have a problem there.

I would contact the Convention and Visitor's Bureau - they should be ably to aim you at someone who can do a mystery event. (I think they used to do them at the Mohonk Mountain House - perhaps someone there has suggestions.)

Thanks for the reply.
No definitely no cash.
When I suggest gaming, i mean like computer animated games. Interactive games that everyone can play.

Recreational poker is allowed in NYC, as long as the house does not take cut. There are all sorts of raffles and auctions that are not illegal. And corporations are always giving away something or other, usually the shareholders money.

If it is an office thing save money and just make it the person everyone wants to kill the most.
___

As a victim of many office events, things like this make people uncomfortable since they feel like they must participate and look interested. It is hookey and has the opposite effect management is seeking.

thanks bigAl. Yes i can see that with a murder mystery a lot of people may not feel comfortable with expressing themselves.
Some sort of virtual computer game may be much easier for them though.

Thanks KatPen. My girlfriend has done the accomplicetheshow. I'm sure you will enjoy it!

Nytravller - The Mohonk Mountain House looks like a lovely place. Would be nice to do disc golf here and croquet and lawn bowls etc. It just may be a bit difficult to get everyone to somewhere out to New York suburbs. Great suggestion though, I may go myself at some point!

Since it is NYC, divide the people into a few teams, give them $50 and tell them to bring back the most unusual thing they can find. Then all can vote and that team gets some reward.

This makes people work together but in a fun way and they must use NYC, not just a hotel room.

Mohonk is one step above a sleep clinic. People are easily bored there unless your intent is relaxtion.
