Until you get some answers, I suggest you familiarize yourself with the search nearby function on maps.google.com Map your new address and then use the "search nearby" function for supermarkets, restaurants (or more specific like pizza, chinese etc.) menupages.com is a good place to look for restaurants and includes Brooklyn.

You're really not moving to New York You're really moving to Brooklyn (a Borough which is huge in itself - with more than 2 million people) and has many very diverse neighborhoods. While you will undoubtedly visit a lot of other areas of the city, you will find a lot of you basic services in your immediate area. You might want to go to the NYTimes web site - where the real estate section has reviews of many city neighborhoods - with ideas of strengths/weaknesses and a lot of local good todos.

It sounds like you got everything covered except for the following. I thought with a name like Breski, you want to know about Farrell's.

How did you come upon the place to which you're moving? Recommended by friends, the school? They should be of some help.
Otherwise, most every neighborhood in NYC, regardless which borough (Brooklyn is one of the 5 boroughs), has nearby small groceries, larger markets, restaurants, cleaners, hairdressers, etc. etc. If not right on the street where you live, then a few blocks walk in any direction which is good for exercise.
