mosquitoes

Hi,
I'm very susceptible to bugs bites and mosquitoes. We are going to Alaska first 10 days of August and will be in Denali and in the Kenai Peninsula - Homer and Seward. Are the bugs bad in those areas and what type of repellant do you recommend? thans

Any repellent with a good amount of DEET in it, should be fine. The bugs are sort of hit-and-miss. You can go one time, and they're not bad, you can go another, and they're all over.
Just remember standard rules: long sleeves and long pants, no perfume, etc.

susan, before DH went to Alaska he found an insect repellent with 100% Deet at Walmart. Said to tell you it is in a little spray bottle.

Off has 100% Deet. We used, but be careful, bottle leaked after using and we had to put in sealable plastic bag. Read label about how to use.

Yes you have the potential for significant bugs in the beg. of August. But I would purchase Deet in Anchorage- plenty of Walmarts and not risk it leaking in luggage.
