Monterey/Big Sur: 2 Days

We will be staying in Monterey in July. We arrive late Monday night. We want to bike the 17-Mile Drive on Tuesday. What should we do on Wednesday? We have to head to San Fran late afternoon on Wednesday.

Go to Point Lobos. Park outside and walk the perimeter trail. When you reach the kiosk, turn to the right and follow the various trails all the way around the park (just over 6 mi.). Then drive a little further south to Rocky Point and have lunch on the cliffs looking over the water.

Both of those will earn you the right to eat your way around San Francisco!

Excellent suggestion Catbert! Now....we are two young single girls in our 30's. Where should we go for dinner/fun/nightlife Monday night and Tuesday night? We don't want to spend too much on dinner ($40 each).

For one night, check out Forge in the Forest, in Carmel.

Also, Bahama Billy's in the Carmel Barnyard would be in your budget. Think comfort food meets the Tropics, It's a fun place with very good food IMO. My daughter had her wedding rehearsal dinner there last summer.
