Mokuleia Beachfront Cottages - anyone stayed there?

What were they like? Am looking for clean, with a firm, good mattress on the bed. Do they smell moldy or anything? Geckos? Do the beachfront ones have a covered lanai in case of rain? Good lighting for evening reading? Remodeled recently? Sorry, I realize these aren't $300/night places -- am just trying to find out what to expect.

Scott - I stayed last August at Mokuleia Beach Colony - is this the place you're talking about?

Yes, it is. I realize all the cottages are probably different, but looking for any info I can get. Thanks.

Scott - we absolutely loved it, but you need to know the cottages (at least the one we rented) are not "modern-condo-decor", rather more "funky-cast-off-decor", but it was quite large, very, very clean, good new mattress, lamps everywhere, beachfront covered lanai w/table, chairs and lounger. Georgous grounds and view from lanai. Considering the price, we were thrilled with the place. Will be happy to help you with any other questions.....

Thanks for your response. Sounds neat. I know this sounds crass - wondering if they have TV - it's hard to be out of touch. If you went during the winter, did you have good weather? Did I read they have fireplaces?

Place sounds interesting. Scott, on which island is it located? Is there a website?

Scott - TV: yes. Fireplace: no. And we were there in Aug/Sept and had fabulous weather, so don't know anything about the winter weather there, except that there is awesome high surf in winter (it's a very popular winter surfing destination).

Traveling Man - we're talking about the North Shore of Oahu. We had the vacation of a lifetime there - low-key and inexpensive. Do a search on this forum using "Mokuleia Beach Colony" as keywords - we were discussing this place on here several months ago, and someone had the website for our cottage posted.....

Thanks so much for your responses. Am looking forward to it -- and will take a stack of books in case of rain.
