Moderately Priced Hotel in Scottsdale
There may be no such thing... but is there a moderately priced ($150-$175/night) hotel that is good for a getaway for my husband and I in Scottsdale. We've heard Millenium ResortMcCormick Ranch and Doubletree La Posada at Camelback. Does anyone know anything about these places? Also, what is the average temperaure the first week of November? Thanks for any info.

We stayed at La Posada a few years ago and really liked it. It wasn't luxurious but the fake boulders by the pool against the backdrop of the real boulders and mountains was so cool...I liked it and would stay again. We got a good price with the Entertainment Book coupon. Kids will be selling the Entertainment Book in September as a school fundraiser. To me it's always the best fundraiser to invest it.

Avg daily high 81, avg low 54 for early November.
Hotel rates start going up in October, so you'll be there in "high season", which makes everything less reasonable.
(If you'd have gone in September you could've stayed almost anywhere in town for $200, rates nearly double in winter).

We stayed at the Sunset Resort back in April and found the place very nice, with a great location that was very convenient to shopping, dining and Old Scottsdale. The AAA rate was within your rannge, but I was able to get a government rate that was a lot less.

If you do a search on Arizona you will find lots of suggestions. The Millenium is quite nice. Doubletree is nice, but a little older. I call on hotels in Scottsdale all the time for work and have never heard of the Sunset Resort. Perhaps the other poster met the Sunburst Resort.
Some of the resorts are:
Hyatt Gainey Ranch
Sunburst
Radisson
Renaissance Scottsdale
Chaparral Suites
Scottsdale Plaza Resort
Hilton Scottsdale
Scottsdale Camelback
Marriott's Mountain Shadows
Personally I would avoid the Holiday Inn Sunspree. Nothing to get excited about.
The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess is fabulous, but may be over your price range.
Good luck. The weather will be nice, but for locals it's not swimming weather.
November is "in" season, but not high season which will start in January.

We stayed at Doubletree La Posada last November. It was just fine--nice view of Camelback Mountain, rooms set in several one-story buildings, lots of things to do (putting green, jacuzzis, tennis, the aforementioned pool). Our room was clean and had the usual 3* amenities--nothing extravagant.
We got it for $33/night on Priceline.
Nobody will ever confuse it for one of the high-end resorts in Scottsdale, but we were happy--would go back in a minute, especially if we could get that kind of price again.
Average highs the first week in November are 76-79, average lows 46-49.
