I think the best part of this deal is the $249 price for the week before Christmas and over Thanksgiving!

Although from all reports calling the Superior rooms "oversized" is kind of an exaggeration except for comparison to their own standard rooms.

For those to whom this matters, I just checked availability and it works for 2 people, but not for 3 (over Thanksgiving). The room set-ups say 1 king or 2 singles (singles, really?)

Yes - in NYC, as in europe, most hotel rooms hold only 2 people - in either one double or perhaps queen bed or 2 twin beds (for non-couple travelers).

Land is simply way too expensive to have the huge rooms you see in much of the country -with 2 queen size beds and often a seating area as well.

nyt, I've stayed in many many NY hotels with 4 people (when the kids were smaller) in two double or queen-size beds, Courtyard Midtown East, Marriott Marquis, Hilton Times Square, Westin Times Square, Renaissance Times Square, etc. That's why I was so surprised -- I've actually never seen a 2-single bed room in the US.

OK are we saying that we've never seen two "twin" beds in a US hotel room, or we've never seen two "single" beds in a US hotel room? I've seen many with two twin beds -- that means two beds that are approx. 36 inches wide each. But in US terms, a "single" bed is only 30 inches wide. And I've never seen a hotel room with two "single" 30 inch beds.

Ha! I've never seen any with two twins OR two singles, but then I've never been looking for that either.

Whether they are 36" or 30" wide, there are very few hotels, motels, etc., that have two in a room.
As for doubles or queens, a room with two or those is called a double/double and is easy to book, especially at major hotels.

Well two twin or single beds may not be "common" but they are not all that uncommon either -- particularly in big city hotels. The Millenium certainly has them. My guess is that their rooms are simply not large enough to hold two double beds. Most hotels offer a choice of two beds and when their rooms are tiny, two beds can mean two twins.
