I'm not sure what you could do in Santa Claus, IN for 2 days, unless you go to the amusement park. There's a big statue of Santa, a post office, and a few hotels decorated with Christmas year-round, but we had a hard time killing an afternoon there.

I've never been there, but I read about these places in a travel magazine, you might want to check them out. They were promoted as places to celebrate and "old fashioned Christmas".
Indiana - Connor Prairie (a pioneer village in Fishers, IN)
Indiana - Zionsville (a small town near Indianapolis). Known for "antique stores, specialty shops and quaint cafes".
Ohio - Ohio Village. A civil war-era living history village.
