Miami Beach this weekend (with a kid)?

I am scheduled to be in Miami Beach tomorrow morning through Sunday morning. My husband will be attending a conference, and the plan was for my daughter (she's 8) and me to hang out by the pool and beach. I'm wondering if our going is advisable given current weather conditions.

Anyone from Miami-area available to comment? Thanks.

Tomorrow will probably be a rainy and windy day, but Friday and Saturday look like they could turn out to be nice- just scattered showers are forecast. The surf may still be kind of rough for swimming, but hanging out by the pool would be fine.

I don't know where you're coming from but very few days are total washouts here.

It looks like cloudy, windy and rain for tomorrow but depending upon how fast Noel moves by, it could be very pleasant late in the day.

After that it should be partly to mostly nice.

Bring your bathing suit and lots of lotion.

We're coming from Seattle, so it sounds like it's a worthwhile trip.

Thanks for the replies.

I just checked the map. If all goes according to the prediction, by tomorrow morning Noel should be really turning NE and moving away.

These storms don't bring long term weather systems such as 5 days of rain, etc.

Very often within a day it doesn't look like it did the day before.

The day after Wilma hit (cat 3 hurricane) it was sunny with no wind.

Have fun!!

Since you're coming this weekend, you might want to check out the events for Sleepless Night Out in Miami Beach. It might be difficult to do much with an 8 year old, but the earlier events would be do able. Here's a blurb on the event.

"SLEEPLESS NIGHTS IN MIAMI BEACH
Sleepless Night is an all-night, free event in Miami Beach scheduled for Saturday, November 3, 2007, from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. – making it a 13-hour night due to the end of Daylight Savings Time. Sleepless Night will be a collaboration of all the city’s major cultural institutions, theaters, galleries and arts organizations, along with hotels, shops, clubs, restaurants, and individual artists and presenters. The diverse program includes indoor and outdoor arts exhibits and installations, performances, fashion shows, tours, dance, music, film, and other cultural offerings – all presented without admission charge. Free public transportation will connect the four major zones of activity – North Beach, Collins Park, Lincoln Road, and Ocean Drive."

The weather right after a hurricane or tropical storm is always amazing.

Cloudless skies, no humidity, and perfect sunshine.
