Hotels in Miami

My fiancé and I are going to Florida on our honeymoon next September. We'll be spending about a week in Miami and are hesitating between 2 hotels: the Loews and the Palms. Can anyone give us their opinion concerning these hotels? And I was also wondering about the safety of the Art Deco District at night. Someone told me it wasn't safe...

I think the LOEWS is in a "great" location, but it does kind of have a "convention/catering/banquet" hotel feel to it. Gets better ZAGAT rating than the Palms.

Miami Beach/South Beach/Art Deco/Collins/Lincoln Rd (restaurants) are all safe.

Like in any city you may not want to go down a dark street when you can't see other doing the same.

Be aware that June and September are the rainiest month in general.

Just plan your days appropriately.

Most likely you'll get up to sunny skies.
By mid to late morning the big clouds will start to roll in. Probably thunderstorms between noon and 2PM.

Followed by gradual clearing and a beautiful evening.

Because of the daily rain the temperature doesn't usually go up above 92.

Also, high humidity. The positive of this is your skin will feel like a baby's butte.

Just walk slowly and don't run. You'll have a great time.

Thanks for the opinions and the weather tips. We're actually getting there on Sept, 28th and are staying until Oct, 12. We're hoping it won't rain too much while we're there...

The palms is almost right next to the loews. I don't think it gets great reviews. I'm not a huge fan of the loews though, esp if they putyou in the "St. moritz" wing/hotel next door (still considered part of the loews).

I have found the art deco district to be very safe. follow common sense of course.

nytraveler,

Babies have buttes, mesas, crevices and dimples.

Then when they get older like us they become craggly.

stephe,

My mid-October you'll see some clouds go by that don't dump rain. However, I would still do the beach stuff first thing in the morning and then walking in the evening.

You probably should remember, too, that September is in the thick of hurricane season.

But the hotel rates in September/October are probably great!
