MGM Room Preferences
Hi all-
We are going to be staying at the MGM (don't have a choice, long story) in Vegas and I am trying to decide between a Grand Tower room and a Bungalow suite. I've heard the Emerald Tower isn't the greatest so am deciding between these two, which are within my price range. The suite is about $130 more for three nights.
Anyone stayed in these types of rooms there?

Just back two days ago from the MGM. My choice was between the Emerald and Grand towers. I chose the Grand, largely because MGM's website led me to believe its rooms are oversized (450 sq ft). Ours wasn't. We were on the 17th floor, and the room was your basic 360 sq ft room. Yes, it had the marble bathroom floor, and the furnishings were fine and appeared relatively new. But I've been in Best Westerns just as nice.
Our room faced towards the airport. Maybe rooms overlooking the strip are the better ones. Whatever, unless you can get a guarantee for the oversized room, I'd recommend booking the suite.

We had a Bungalow Suite reserved for our wedding night and when we got there they had upgraded us to a Terrace Suite. Very cool. I never see the Terrace Suite on the website, but if you can snag one I highly recommend it.

One set of rooms that I can't find (or identify) on the site is an area where I stayed several years ago and it would be worth calling the hotel to find out about. There were rooms (not suites) that were accessed via card right off the casino floor (it was to the left, as I walked past the front desk on the right). It was not a tall part of the building; I stayed on the second floor and could just use the stairs if I didn't feel like the elevator. Very nice area and no messing around with crowds at the elevators or whatever.

The Celebrity Spa Suite (which is one step up from the Bungalow) is wonderful! I think it is slightly larger than the Bungalow Suite and has a larger bathroom with whirpool tub. It was nice to have a living room area to lounge in, rather than a basic hotel room - especially because you can get so wiped out walking around LV all day! If money isn't a problem, I'd choose a Bungalow suite over a Grand Tower. But then again, I've stayed in the Emerald Tower, so a Grand Tower room would definitely be a step up from that. It really depends on what the occasion is and how much time you think you'll spend in your room.

If anyone has stayed in a Bungalow Suite I would love some feedback on how it would compare to a Treasure Island Petite suite- I'm planning a 5 day trip in October and the prices for these two are comparable. Are the Bungalow Suites in the Grand Tower?

I don't know if you're still planning - but I decided to go with the Bungalow Suite at MGM instead of Treasure Island. We're going to Vegas to celebrate our anniversary - so I want it to be somewhat nicer than our usual accommodations (Bally's or Aladdin).
The reservations lady told me to stick with the Bungalow instead of the Celebrity Spa suite - since it's a $60/night difference, and if we want - we would probably have a better spa experience at the actual MGM Grand spa than the dinky little whirlpool tub in your room. Just a thought. I'm going to save the $60/night and put it towards renting a cabana poolside for $150/day.
We're going in just a few weeks, so I'll take pictures & report back, if you're still interested.
