Memphis in 9 Hours

Traveling to Memphis for the day. Can we see Graceland, Beale Street, downtown, and Mud Island--really fast--without a car? Also a great BBQ place for late lunch? Thanks.

Not without a car. Graceland (which is really a must-do) is very far from the other sites you've mentioned. The others are all within walking distance, although I doubt you could do them all in one day. I'd cut out Mud Island.

Thanks. It looks like Graceland and then Beale Street for BBQ.

I don't think there is any BBQ on Beale Street (although I could be wrong), but there are bars that serve food. Beale is mainly an evening venue, although there will be some historical things to see. Be sure to stop in at the Peabody for a look at the lobby and the ducks. Keep in mind that they closed the Peabody and intended to raze it in the early 70's before it was saved and preserved.

For BBQ, why not try the famous Rendezvous right near the Peabody? Ask the doorman for directions (it's in a little alley). They are known for their dry ribs.
