Maui Wine

Hello!

I was wondering if anyone had any information about wineries on Maui?

Any information you may have is much appreciated.

Thanks so much in advance for your help!

I've not been, but the idea of a winery in Hawaii interested me enough to google and it resulted in information on Tedeschi winery (aka Maui Wine):

We have been there twice once before they even built the large tasting room that they have now. At one time is was a small one room stop. Be prepared to take awhile to get there. It is not an easy visit. If you are on the west side of the island you have to go back toward Kahului than take Haleakala hwy. Now there are two stops that are fun one is the small town of Makawao (small funky town) and if you like flowers there are several Proteas farms. Great food at Haliimaile general store (known for there ribs, sauce is with tropical fruit) Good luck and have a great time. The wines are on the lighter side and more fruity.

If you go take a picnic lunch and eat it there. Picnic tables are there. Or you can purchase lunch at a little place across the road from winery. Beautiful views all along the way. Enjoy!!

I have visited twice. Once in 1983 and another in 1990. The winery is on the Ulapalkua Ranch (sp?). The grape wines we thought were not that great, but their pineapple wine was actually pretty good.

Give it a shot.

Tedeschi Winery is not known for their spectacular wines, but every time bring out the pineapple wine, people like it. It's a nice visit, though, if you have the time.
