Maui-Need help-2 day stop

Will be in Maui for two days (cruise stops). We are not big fans of organized tours. Could I please have some suggestions as to the "must do" on the island. We are planning to rent a car for one or possibly both days.

Thanks

There's alot to do in Maui. You would definitely need a car. My favorite things are: 1) Diving/snorkeling at Molokini - you can go on the internet and schedule with a dive shop there (we used Maui Dive Shop - they were great to work with). You could also drive to the Eye of the Needle - beautiful scenary, and also, of course, you could drive up to Haleakala. Those would be my suggestions.

I just spent two days in Maui on a cruise ship. We drove to Hana and it was great with a rental car. It's a long day--we were gone 10 hours but it was a highlight.

There's a needle and some rock that people say looks like JFK in a state park on Maui.

If you have time, suggest you visit the Maui Ocean Center near Maalea Harbor. Lots of sea critters that most of us don't get to see even when we go snorkeling. A nice shopping area and restaurants nearby also. We like Buzz's Wharf right at Maalea Harbor but there are others in the area.
