Marriott Manhattan Eastside-Looking for nearby deli
Hello! Friends of mine from Georgia are taking a cruise out of NYC in Sept. They are going to be in NYC for a few days beforehand. They are staying at the Marriottt Eastside and want to find a good deli nearby. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

In NYC, "deli" can refer to almost any small convenience store that has a sandwich counter. Do you need a deli for pastrami and such, or just a deli for conveniences?
For those who might have suggestions, Marriott Eastside is at Lexington and 49th.

There are delis all over that area, so they won't have a problem finding something they like. A specific suggestion would be Essa-Bagel on Lex a couple of blocks down.
IF they want to go to a New York legend, Carnegie Deli is only a few block away on the West Side.

Carnegie is sort of a deli - but for real deli you need to go downtown. The "delis" is the area of the that Marriott are really small grocery stores and places for local workers to grab a quicky lunch - but completely inauthentic for real deli (pastrami on rye, tongue, pickles etc).
