NYC Marriott on Lexington Ave.
Hi! Anyone stay at the Marriott on Lexington Ave. recently? I've booked a couple of nights using reward points for this month. The pictures look nice...
Also, my DH keeps telling me that a new Renaissance Hotel is opening up in NYC. I've googled but cannot come up with anything. Can anyone actually confirm that this is true?
Thanks so much!

Maybe he is thinking of the brand new Marriott Residence Inn that looks pretty nice. The Marriott website says taking reservations starting Jan 06. It is at 1033 Avenue of the Americas. I was just looking last night, yearning to burn some of our points in NYC! Have fun!

It's gets mostly good reviews

Located near the Waldorf.
There is no new Renaissance. As Mary2Go says, there is a new Residence Inn in Times Square that's getting great reviews.

The Marriott East Side on Lexington is fine. I think "nice" is a good word for it. It won't knock your socks off and it's not even one of the better Marriotts but it does have clean rooms and a nice staff. Good location, too.

Why I never *think* to look at TripAdvisor is beyond me, lol. Glad someone is out there to remind me that it exists.
According to the Marriott website, the Lexington Ave location has new bedding. It looks "nicer" than the TS location (although it's been a couple of years since we've stayed there -- perhaps they've renovated in the meantime).
I checked out the Residence Inn and it looks great for an extended stay, especially with a family. Since we are eating out, I'll save the added reward points it would require.
Initially I was going to slurge at the Central Park Ritz, but couldn't get the dates I needed. Next time.

I stayed at this Marriott last year for business. The hotel is nice, older, and the rooms are very nice.
The problem that I encountered was the street noise. Since this building is a bit older (I guess) the windows don't seal as well as other places I have stayed in the city and I heard noise pretty much all night long - for that reason alone, I would not stay there again.

Thanks for the information.
We'll have to call the hotel directly (again to speak with a manager). We need to confirm a non-smoking room and the first person my husband spoke with said that wasn't possible when using rewards. We've never had anyone ever tell us such a thing before (although the discussion has come up on the board before). The feeling we are getting is that our "treatment" will not be the same - which frankly makes the DH unhappy considering he lives more at a Marriott than at home, lol. We'll try and request a corner room, but not counting on it.
