marathons & baseball
We're looking for a marathon or half marathon that takes place during the 2009 baseball season, somewhere near a MLB park where the home team is in town around the same date. Sounds easy, but no luck so far! Thanks for any suggestions.

Boston Marathon is M 4/20 and the Red Sox have a home game against Baltimore. Red Sox always have an early home game to correspond with Boston Marathon on Patriots Day (a weird uniquely Massachusetts holiday - not to be confused with Patriot Day which is 9/11)

Los Angeles 5/25
Angels play the Dodgers 5/22 - 5/24, then Angels have a series against White Sox 5/25 - 5/27
San Francisco 7/26
Oakland has a home series ending 7/22, Giants are home 7/27 - 8/2
Rock 'n' Roll in Seattle 6/27
Seattle has a home series ending 6/25
Pittsburgh 5/3
Pirates at home 5/1-5/5
Last one isn't real close: Grandma's Marathon in Duluth, Minnesota is 6/20, about 2.5 hours from Minneapolis. The Twins are at home 6/16 - 6/21

Thanks so much! Probably will try Pittsburgh. Have done Boston a few times, didn't qualify this year. And Grandma's, the hotels up there double their rates at that time, they even admit it! Anyway, would not have thought of Pittsburgh but it fits into our schedule perfectly. Thanks you two.

Not a a full or half but a simple 5k for a good cause and probably one of the prettiest runs down the SF Embarcadero to the Ferry Bldg and back.
You finish shortly after you cross home plate inside of AT&T Park.
Includes tics to the Giants/Rocks game.

The Akron Roadrunner Marathon is Sat. Sept. 26th and the Cleveland Indians play the Orioles on Sun. 27th.
The Akron Marathon gets good reviews. Last year all the marathon runners received a pair of Brooks running shoes--great deal. They also have a half marathon and a team run along with the marathon--same course.
We have also been to the Chicago, Phoenix, Columbus and Cleveland Marathons.
