MANHATTAN DOLL HOSPITAL TO SHUT after death of the owner and chief surgeon

From today's Times:

Wo!. That hospital has been forever in my memory. It's a shame that there's no one to continue.

I love this line:

“We’ve been in business since 1900,” Mr. Chais told The Times in 1990, “and never lost a patient yet.”

If only 'real' hospitals could say that!

Ah, so sad. I have a vintage Raggedy Anne that I was planning on taking there for surgery.

Oh sob! I have several dolls that need attention that I was planning to take there, one of which is EXACTLY the doll he's shown fixing in the photo. And her head has come off too!

It is sad. Sad that he died and sad to think of all the wounded bears and dolls that will not be able to have their operations. I have one who needs a limb reattachment--I will have to do it myself, again!

CPG: I also loved that line--I read it out loud...

I have never heard of this place, nor do I have any dolls, but what a brilliant idea! It's too bad it has to close.
