MB has much nicer rooms.
MB is also on an island virtually devoid of restaurants beyond MB itself and its sister resort, the Lodge at Koele. Lanai City has nothing noteworthy. Its a *really* quiet island.
KBH is, of course, only 10-15 minutes from Lahaina.

You need to give a little more info have you visited either island before? how long you are going to stay?, do you golf?, are you speaking of the kapalua bay hotel or kapalua resort in general? on the hotels alone MB wins hands down over kapalua's kbh or ritz-carlton but it is lanai not maui so other than the two hotels there's not much except for the place chef clay opened which i have not visited. If you are there to lounge the hotel and golf great but there is not much else to lanai except for the lodge, with kapalua you get everything maui has to offer.

Five days at either hotel. want peace, rest, relaxation, good food, good snorkeling, awesome rooms, a whale watching trip, a snorkel trips, long walks/hikes, and a good exercise room. have never been to either island
