LV Hotel WITHOUT a reserbation?

HI ALL,

I will be coming with my GF to Las Vegas January 3rd to 8th 2006 and have just realised that there is a massive convention then meaning high room prices.

I have reserved 3 nights at Luxor at a good rate but cannot find any deals for Fri 6th or Sat 7th - ITS JUST TOO EXPENSIVE!

Is it an option to turn up on the Tuesday before and get a good deal or will I not be able get a good room at such short notice?

Thankx in advance 4 your help!

I would not count on getting room discount with short notice. We once moved from the Venetian to Mandalay Bay (decided to stay another night or two or three) and the MB room rate they quoted us on the phone was the same exact rate they had on their website.

Try the San Remo, a block east from the Luxor (before it is taken over). Big rooms, good prices; I think it is a good option.

You can also try the Tropicana across the street and the Hawthorn Suites behind the Tropicana. Or move to the other end of the strip for the weekend, you might find something at the Stardust, Riviera or the Marriot Suites.

Try the Orleans Casino. They have vacancies and the room rates vary by night from $50 to $160. It's off the Strip but a very nice place to stay and it runs a shuttle to the Strip. It's our preferred place to stay.

You will NOT get a good rate at the last minute. And very likely will not find ANY rooms available anywhere

The (huge) International Consumer Electronics Show is that week every year.

I would nail down your rooms absolutely ASAP at whatever rates you can get . . . .

Thanks for all your advice!

I have just received an email offer for the new South Coast Hotel and Casino opening next month for $99 per night on weekends which is good deal compared to others as there is a convention the weekend 6/7th Jan, so I have booked it for now…

Not sure how far it is from the action though (any ideas?), so I will move to a more central hotel if there's a better offer nearer the time as it 100% cancellable...

Please let me know if you have any comments on this hotel?

Looks like you found a great option, the hotel is just opening New year's weekend and your room will be brand new with a plasma tv.

It looks like this hotel will be more or less an updated/upgraded version of the Orleans Hotel with lots of the same type restaurants and amenities...and although it is a long way from the strip, maybe 8-10 min freeway drive, they will have a free shuttle to center strip (Barbary Coast) like most of the other Coast hotels.
