Luxury Digs in Ashland

We are looking for fabulous accommodations in Ashland for our anniversary in Oregon. What are your top recommendations? Any special restaurants that are vegetarian friendly? Also, feel free to share any tips for enjoying the Shakespeare Festival. Thanks in advance.

Well, I don't know that I'd put this (or anything else in Ashland, for that matter) into the "luxury" category, but my hasband and I loved the Country Willows B&B, despite it's saccharine name. (http://www.willowsinn.com/) It's run by a wonderful gay couple and has lovely rooms and amazing home-cooked breakfasts. It is slightly outside of town, so you can't walk to the festival, but the short drive (perhaps 3-5 minutes) was fine, and it was nice to get a break from all of the other theater-goers.

As for the festival, make sure to dress warmly if you're seeing a show at the outdoor theater. It's a wonderful experience, but once the sun goes down it can be a bit chilly. While you're in Ashland, make sure to take a stroll through Lithia Park. It's a lovely spot. I have fond memories of nice walks there (and not-so-fond memories of my now-business partner getting a concussion from going too fast in the "human hamster wheel" in the playground).

Hope you enjoy Ashland!

Probably a B&B would be the most luxurious place to stay in Ashland. There are many down there. Try this website for a good listing. bbexplorer.com

As mentioned do go to Lithia Park it is so pretty.

Have a wonderful time!

For future reference, The Ashland Springs Hotel is definitely in the "luxury" category. www.ashlandspringshotel.com is the web address. This hotel is our favorite place to stay in Ashland. Enjoy a nice dinner at the Peerless Hotel while staying in this area!! ***kim***

I'd agree that the Ashland Springs is probably the most upscale place. We have rented a huge top floor jacuzzi suite at the Best Western Bard's Inn, but it's typical generic furnishings -- just with a lot of extra space and a big jacuzzi in the room.
The French restaurant right in front of the Shakespeare Festival Theatre -- Le Cha_______? is my favorite. You can get at least a choice or two of vegetarian pretty much anywhere in town.

Chateaulin must be the restaurant you are referring to. I have not been yet but have heard excellent things about it. ***kim***

Yes, that's the place. We've had some great meals there.

Have you tried the New Sammy's Cowboy Bistro in Talent? It is receiving very good reviews lately. We have driven through Talent many times and now have a good reason to stop there! ***kim***
