Hi everyone,
just thought I'd check back in.
We have booked the Ocean Point Inn and Spa Arch Cape for the 3 nights. We will then head to Portland for 2 nights before we fly to Chicago.
Any suggestions for Portland would be appreciated.
Thanks again for you help and suggestions.

Sounds great! Where are you renting the car? If there is a drop off fee for renting in Seattle and dropping at PDX, the train and renting in downtown Portland is better IMO.
If it is raining when you get back to Portland, check out Powell's bookstore at 10th & Burnside.
If good weather check out the rose gardens in the west end of the city.

The Oregon Coast is just a dream for this kind of accommodation. Did you look at the Channel House? It is in Depoe Bay which is a tiny little place and the B&B overlooks the coast. You can find guestrooms with hot tubs on the balcony, and cozy fireplaces. Or try the Heceta Head Lightstation – this is an actual lighthouse keeper’s house with amazing views over the waves and all the amenities you need.

Hi tomfuller
we have taken onboard your suggestion re car hire and drop off fees. We will be mindful of this. Probably won't have a car in Portland. I will definitely check out the book store , rain or shine.
Will keep you up to date.
WilliamT I will look up your suggestions too.
Thanks
