Los Angeles Hotel help

Looking for a safe place in or outside of Hollywood, Westwood or Glendale area. Want to do some celebrity cemetaries and this looks like the areas. Under $200 if possible or even further out from these areas. Driving in from Vegas area. Thanks.

Just a suggestion: Your title is very vague and the thread is not tagged for a state.

Maybe ask the moderators to tag the thread for California and edit the topic title (something like 'Hotel help - west side LA area')

How many days will you be in L.A.?

I assume you're referring to Forest Lawn Glendale, Hollywood Forever and the L.A. National Cemetery. But there's also Forest Lawn Los Angeles and the adjacent Mt. Sinai Memorial Park in the Burbank/Griffith Park area. There are celebrities and famous people interred at all five cemeteries.

It would be difficult to suggest a location that works well for all of these places. If the National Cemetery in Westwood is taken off the list, the search becomes much easier. Glendale, Hollywood or Burbank.

If you're going to Forest Lawn or Hollywood Forever, here are two trip reports (with photos)...

Forest Lawn Glendale

Hollywood Forever (prices may have changed ... check website)

West Los Angeles ( Westwood inc) is more pleasant, cooler than Hollywood in summer time if you want to escape the Vegas heat. But you'll have traffic to Hollywood and Glendale and Forest Lawn near WB in Burbank. Sat & Sun mornings are the easiest for dealing with traffic so if your visit is over a weekend you should be okay.

Royal Palace Westwood includes car parking. If you prefer Hollywood/Glendale....what is your budget per night? Just about anything in Glendale is safe.

Take a look at the Wilshire Crest Hotel (I use booking.com) It is near the museum row and farmers market so a pretty good central location for hollywood and not too far for westwood etc. If you want closer to Hollywood then maybe the Hollywood Historic on Melrose would be good-it is just south of Hollywood Forever and still in a fairly good neighborhood.

Depending on when you are coming I would filter my search to include parking and A/C as much for having a quiet room as much as a cool one.

Westwood has Pierce Brothers with Marilyn etc.

Since I live here I don't have any first hand experience with hotels, but Westwood Village is safe. Maybe the Kimpton Palomar? which is actually walking distance to Pierce Brothers.

The good thing about July is that traffic is a bit lighter with school being out.
