Susan to say that Coconut Point is not on the beach isn't exactly right. It isn't on the beach the same as The Ritz Carlton isn't on the beach. All that separates the Hyatt from the Gulf is a lot of mangroves and natural reserve. Unlike at the Ritz where you take a hike on the boardwalk through the mangroves to get to the beach, at the Hyatt, they take you across by a little boat. This still may not be what you want, but thought I'd explain.

Just wanted to clarify Coconut Point's location. It does have mangroves separating it from the water, but that water is Estero Bay. You board a covered launch for a 10 minute ride across Estero Bay to a private barrier island, where their beach is located. It's a quick ride and beautiful along the way as you weave around the channel out to the island. Though we didn't see any on our trip, this is also a manatee habitat.
CP's website gives you a good idea of the beach and grounds. http://coconutpoint.hyatt.com/property/index.jhtml Go to "hotel information" on the left side of the home page, then under that drop down menu, click on "virtual tour".
