Looking for feedback on Great Wolf Lodge in Williamsburg
I have just stumbled across this place and thought it might make a nice weekend getaway this winter. Most of the comments on tripadvisor complain about the food, but with so many great restaurants in Williamsburg we wouldn't have eaten there anyway. It is pricey, so if you've been, I'd love some feedback. I have a 6-year old who loves the water so I think she would have a great time. Is it very crowded? Also, how far is it from the historic district? All opinions welcome.
Thanks,
Mary in D.C.

Hi, our daughter took her children to a Great Wolf Lodge, and they loved it. Not that Pricy, when you think how much a water park charges. And its very closed to Col. Williamsburg, and you are not far away from the best BarB Que Prieces. Try it. Go have a good time. Good time of the year to go, not to crowded.

We went to the one in Traverse City, Michigan. It was really nice. The indoor park is not big enough to keep a kid entertained for more than a day or two, but a six year old would have a blast for a weekend, especially in the winter. Make sure they are tall enough for most of the height requirments.
My 16 month old daugther spent 5 hour in the park. Her little lips would turn blue and we'd hop in the hot tub until they were pink again and go back to the pool. They have hot dogs and pizza (and beer!) right in the pool area so you don't have to dry the kids off just to get them a little something to eat. The arcade looked really fun too, so take your quarters. Obviously my daughter was a little young for that.
Have fun!

Hi Marymarra, My experience with the Great Wolf Lodge took place last May as part of an eigth grade field trip. We took 200 kids to Williamsburg spending one night at the GWL. It seems to me it was a 10 minute ride to the historic district (not very far).
The place is great for kids. It is four stories high and very spread out. The indoor water park was very popular with the kids. I was afraid they would be too old for it but they loved it. I think your 6 y.o. would have a great time there. The lobby has these giant animated critters and there are story times in the evening with them.
I did not try the food so no comment on that and as you pointed out there are many fine restaurants in Williamsburg.
As far as crowded, we went in May and it had only been open for a couple of weeks at that point. I believe we are spending a couple of nights there again on this trip so if you are there in May and see a harried group of adults wrangling a large group of adolescents, that'll be us.
