Priceline in Boston end of March

Hi All -

I'm thinking of trying priceline for the first time. Kids gave us tickets to Spamalot in Boston at the end of March. We only live about 30 minutes outside town so I really don't need to stay overnight. However, I HATE March so I'm trying to plan a weekend getaway to give myself something to look forward to. I've read biddingfortravel and am thinking about a 4 star in the Copley and/or Downtown/Charlestown area. Has anyone successfully bid for these properties for $110 or less? I really can't justify the Fri. and Sat. nights that I want to go for much more than that. Thanks for any help or advice you can give.
Sharon

Yep, I've bid successfully in Copley and downtown many times, most I've ever paid was $100. If you don't mind downtown, bid a 4 star for about $60, the Hyatt Regency has been coming up at that price very often. I just got it for that rate 2 days ago.

Stayed at the Hyatt Downtown the weekend just before Christmas for 2 days at $48/night....can't beat it.

Close to the T and Downtown Crossing.

If you don't mind a slight walk throught the park, you can find cheap parking at the Boston Common Garage.....$10 if your timing is right. Parking around the Hotel or at the hotel is pricy.

Thanks to you too milemarker. We stayed at the Hyatt last year and liked it. I think we paid about $30 a night for parking though because we just charged it to the room.

Shaz, I have had very good luck in the Copley zone. We got the Marriott for $80 a couple of years ago and the Colonnade for $120. Check to see what the going rates are for the night that yu want. Using biddingfortravel.com is incredibly helpful although it takes a bit of work on your part to learn the system, I have saved a great deal of mo0ney using them.

Travelzoo.com has a special listed for the Fairmont Copley for $139 a night. I know it's a bit more but I hear it is very nice.

I live about 45 minutes from Boston and often make a night of it through priceline bidding when we have to be in town for something.
