If you have two weeks (usually the minimum required, although you might be able to work out a deal for a shorter time period) you can stay at one of the condos on the beach, or across the street from it. They are far nicer than the motels there. Excelsior Beach to Bay has wonderful units on the ocean and for a lot less money you can stay at the Bayside units and walk across the street to the beach for activities and sunsets. Nice too are higher up condos at Our Place at the Beach condo (you can rent units with a beautiful view of both Sarasota across the bay and the beach across the street.) Another clean and modern complex is Crystal Sands, on the beach, with wonderful views. Last but not least is Midnight Cove, bayside or beachside. Be careful if you stay bayside, there are units very close to the bridge and the rumble is irritating to listen to. The beach is great for walking and jogging. This is not a party beach if that is what you are looking for. It is a smaller and less expensive version of Longboat.

Susan, Do you or anyone else know of a realtor to hook up with to rent a place on Siesta Key for this coming April? The places you describe sound like what I'm looking for but how do I go about getting more info and possibly renting? I am looking for a 2-3 bedroom condo on or across from the beach. Would like a pool and a nicely decorated, clean unit. Thanks for any help.

Try [email protected]. We've been vacationing at Siesta Key for 6 years and love it. The beach and general ambience are the greatest for kids.
