Living near Atlantic City
I have a friend (late 20's, single girl) who is going to be working in Atlantic City and looking for a good area to live in around there. I know AC itself is a bit sketchy, but are there some livable areas within 30-45 minutes? Thx!

I would suggest that she try Ocean City. There are dual routes to AC & it's safe.It may take a little work but ask (in person) at all of the real estate offices (even the smaller ones)for affordable rentals.Might have better luck during the week than weekends which are unmanageable this time of year. The Ocean City Sentinel or Gazette may also have some suggestions.
If purchasing, start in Mays Landing-the coast is too expensive.

A really great area is Brigantine, which is where Harrahs,Trump Marina and the new Borgata are located. The beach is clean and beautiful and real estate (wheteher renting or buying) is affordable and very nice!!

There are a lot of livable areas near Atlantic City. For example, many condos and townhouses have been built in Smithville which is an interesting area. She should get a good map and go and pick up a copy of the Atlantic City Press or contact some real estate agencies.
