Eating in Ocean City
Any recommendations for restaurants in Ocean City this weekend? We love crab but aren't limited to that. What else are local specialties? I'm more interested in the food than the ambiance. Thanks

Crab is a specialty in ALL kinds of places, but if you had to pick ONE state that is known for crab, would it be New Jersey or Maryland? I was just pointing out that it was a pretty safe assumption that Marsham was talking obout OC, Maryland. And it appears I was right.

For crabs, Harrisons and Higgins are more down home and Phillips' is a little pricier/upscale and has more non-seafood choices. I prefer Harrisons for crabs.
Fagers Island is is more "upscale/cloth napkin" and has nicer ambiance (great views of sunset on the bay), I thougt the food was good but not upto the raves reviews I had read.
The Green Turtle is a fun bar and has good pub food - love their shrimp steamed w/Old Bay and a pitcher of beer deal.
FYI Harpoon Hannah's and Nantuckets are in Fenwick, Delaware, just across the border from OC.

Crabcakes, Crab Imperial, and just plain old steamed crabs with Old Bay seasoning are probably considered "local specialties" in Ocean City.
You didn't say which part of Ocean City you are staying at. At the south end is Harris' Crab House, just off the 50 overpass, which is a good local example of a typical, casual crab house. They also have a bar/restaurant right on the water next to the main restaurant that's a lot of fun, but I can't remember what it's called. It's accessible by a short pier, and has no windows, just clear tarps they put up when the weather is bad. Kids like to toss food out to the fish and sea gulls that gather around. I believe they serve a full menu there, including steamed crabs. Have a great time!
