Lincoln Center - any good Asian restaurants nearby?

Hi,

Could you recommend an Asian restaurant near Lincoln Center (going to the opera) where one can grab a quick bite - not too expensive?

Or Italian? Again, nothing fancy nor expensive, just a quick bite for two before the opera begins.

Hope you can help!

Another vote for Shun Lee - best Chinese on the UWS IMHO.

Shun Lee West is right across the street from Lincoln Center (65th btw Columbus and CPW), but ranks as one of the most expensive Chinese restaurants in the City (but the food is wonderful). Shun Lee Cafe is next door and somewhat less expensive, but not cheap either.

If you consider Indian to be in the category of "Asian" food, Sapphire Indian is on B'way btw 60th and 61st and is good, solid restaurant.

Gabriel's is a wonderful little Italian restaurant on West 60th St.

Sadly, there is really not much in that area that will qualify as "not too expensive", unless you are comparing it to the $350 prix fixe meals at Masa or are hitting one of the little dives on Columbus Ave. like Empire Szechuan. If you are willing to go a little further afield (into the West 50s or 70s) you will have more options.

Thanks all for the suggestions!

bgans: we're not adverse to "going further afield" just so long it's not too far away. Don't want to miss the beginning of the opera!

Thanks again!

Of course, you can't beat Shun Lee for quality. But we love Ollie's--and it is quick--impossible to spend more than an hour at dinner--just remember they're across the street from a huge movie theater, so there may be a line, but it moves fast. It is a 2-minute walk up Broadway, between 67th and 68th, and are also known for delicious noodle soups. This is one of the best restaurant values in town, and the food arrives about 1.5 minutes after you order it.

Wow! Awesome!

Thanks so VERY much for those great suggestions! Will have to choose between Wok City and Ollie's - difficult choice!

I leave tomorrow for Chicago to meet up with my friend, then we head out for New York to see the premiere of An American Tragedy this Friday. We will dine well, I'm certain, with the great help of Fodorites!

mclaurie - thanks for the menupages website. It really helps a lot!
