Darling girl,

Haven lost my Dad early, I fear the day my husband may be taken from me. Until then, we LIVE. Embrace the JOY of your wonderful husband for he lives within you.

My heart breaks as I appreciate how bittersweet your life is changing. We are here for you. We do care and truly wish there was a way to comfort you and wash away the pain, but the pain like the joy is living. Hold on. You are not alone.

Love, Gyppie/Michelle

LilMsFoodie,

I had been sitting here thinking how glad I was that IVAN will probably brush by all of you who've been through so much already (I know what it's like to go through 2 hurricanes close together) yet feeling sorry for myself because it looks like he's going to visit us here in the Panhandle. To get my mind off the havoc IVAN might wreck here on Pensacola Beach I decided to see what was going on, on the Fodor's site. I saw this thread, and reading about your loss drove home the point that material things just don't really matter.

Words are so ineffective at a time like this. I can't imagine what you must be going through but I hope hearing from fellow fodorites, even those of us who mostly lurk and enjoy the posts from generous folks like you, will ease some of the pain in your heart.

Take care of yourself. It's easy not to in hurtful times.

LMF- My deepest condolences to you and your family. I know during the first week or so after the loss of a loved one, you numbly do all the things that have to be done. But in the weeks and months after, know that although life continues its inexorable march, your friends here at Fodors won't have forgotten you and the friendship that you have extended to us. We are with you in spirit. I hope you'll allow the love of your friends here to surround you and give you some small measure of comfort. God bless.

Oh wow. I can't even imagine. So sorry. I don't think there are even words for a time like this. Just know that we are here if you need to vent.

LilMsFoodie, I have a huge lump in my throat as I write this--I don't even know you but wish I could give you a big hug right now. Words of support were a huge comfort when my father died four years ago--I only hope that reading this thread gives you a few minutes of peace. You're certainly in my prayers right now and in the days to come.

LMF,
I don't know you very well, but what I do know about you (your love of great food & dining, your wonderful kncak for giving great advice, and the fact that you are a Spartan) I respect a great deal. My thoughts are with you during this difficult time. As many others have said, we are all here if you need someone to talk to! God bless.

Dear LilMsFoodie: I don't know you, but I feel as if I do. My heart aches for you & your family throughout this most difficult time. There's a certain strength that comes through in all of your posts. It is that strength that will get you through this.
Please accept my deepest condolences & know that everyone here will be thinking of you throughout the months ahead.

This poem has been attributed to St Augustine. It brought me comfort after my Mothers death this year. Perhaps it will offer you some small measure of comfort.

Love never disappears for death is a non-event.
I have merely retired to the room next door.
You and I are the same; what we were for each other, we still are.
Speak to me as you always have, do not use a different tone, do not be sad.
Continue to laugh at what made us laugh.
Smile and think of me.
Life means what it has always meant.
The link is not severed.
Why should I be out of your soul if I am out of your sight?
I will wait for you, I am not here, but just on the other side of this path.
You see, all is well.

Dear LilMsFoodie,
You have my deepest sympathy. I have enjoyed your postings re: Florida in the past and feel that I know you through this forum. My prayers are that when you return home after Ivan that there will be no damage as you have suffered more than enough in the last two weeks.
