There have been a number of postings from folks coming to Colorado to see the Aspen changing. Last night the local TV report that in the high mountains the leaves are turning. That is about two weeks ahead of schedule. Also very cool with high time temps dipping below freezing. Fall has arrived in the high country. Get the skis out.

I'll be at Red Rocks on Friday night...I'm guessing it won't be shorts and flip-flops weather?

@musicfan - don't plan on next Friday's wardrobe by today's weather... it changes constantly around here. We were at Red Rocks on Thursday night in shorts and t-shirts all night long - didn't even wear my jacket. The weather in the high country is often 10-20 degrees cooler than Denver and the foothills, so just see what the forecast is right beforehand, and bring layers!

However, we were up in Rocky Mtn. National Park today and it was spitting hail and snow at the very top for a few minutes. We did see a few glimpses of yellow aspen leaves, but no whole trees changed yet. There's a bite of fall in the air, but it's not time to pack away the summer clothes yet!

I really miss seeing the aspens turn gold. I think that the peak color is usually mid-September, so it's probably not too far off schedule.

Colorado in fall, how beautiful. DebitNM reported snow atop the mountains in New Mexico. Glad to hear change is on the way.

Actually, the snow was atop the LaPlatas outside Durango in Colorado, AnnMarie but thanks for the mention.

It is still warm here {SW CO}during day, but when the sun goes down, the temps drop like a stone, low to mid 40's.

No leaves changing on trip back from ABQ to SW CO yesterday.
