Le Relais de Venise L'Entrecote - in NYC
I finally ate at Le Relais de Venise l'Entrecote on Friday, and I promised in another thread (which I cannot find now) to give a little review. I'm pleased to say I liked the restaurant, and it's certainly fairly priced. It's not the greatest steak in the world, but I really loved the sauce, and I thought the salad was fine (it had been dressed a little too long for my taste, but the dressing itself was good).
The steak (ordered medium) was perfectly pink---even the second portion. The fries were my favorites, thin and crisp, and not at all oily.
The sauce is definitely buttery, and I'm not totally convinced the secret ingredient is chicken liver. I think bone marrow. But it was good and good on the fries. Dessert was ok but unmemorable (we had the peach melba, which had far too much whipped cream and not nearly enough peach or ice cream).
So for $22.50 you get the meal (minus dessert). We had a half-bottle of house wine for $11.50 (only a half-bottle because we were going to the theater). The full bottle was, I believe, $21.95.
If we had been in a bigger hurry, we could have had a complete dinner in 45 minutes. As it was we were in and out in an hour---and we even sat next to one of the Jonas brothers for an added bonus (him I knew ... Justin Bieber, probably I wouldn't even recognize).

Thanks for the review Doug. You might consider adding it to menupages since there's only one there, not very good. http://www.menupages.com/restaurants...se-lentrecote/

I was there early ... about 6 on Friday. It wasn't empty, but no one was waiting for a table, even when we were leaving at a little after 7. I think the location probably keeps the crowds away, yet it's not really far from anything in Midtown. It's within a few blocks of about 10 hotels, and we walked to theater near Times Square in about 15 minutes.
