late september 2020 Williamsburg VA closures
Planning on spending a night or two during a 10 day driving trip to the area. Wondering if many Williamsburg sites are closed due to COVID. I have learned that the US Naval Academy tours have been halted due to COVID.

Do you mean Colonial Williamsburg or the general area?
If CW, the best info source is their website:
https://www.colonialwilliamsburg.org/update/?from=home
If the area:
https://www.visitwilliamsburg.com/latest-updates
It should be beautiful there in late September!

Both the Williamsburg "metropolitan" community and Colonial Williamsburg are operating in accordance with Virginia's covid phase 3 openings & restrictions. Plenty to see. Merchant Square, the business district between CW and the College of Wm & Mary has numerous outdoor dining opportunities. Starting to see some of the early signs of autumn. Jamestown Island (NPS & Preservation Virginia) and Jamestown Settlement are are also open. The former has a reduced entry scheme, half the normal fee, b/c of the partial closure of the NPS facilities due to covid. Jamestown Island is a great place to walk and bike. Great bird watching - eagles, herons, osprey, and more. Wishing you good weather. Everyone is looking forward to that.
