late August/early September--closures?

We are planning a trip to Ireland in late August/early September. Do the shops and restaurants close down in August like they do in other parts of Europe, or will everything be open still?

Everything will be open. September is a great time to visit.

I don't think any part of Europe "closes down" in Augsut any more. I live in Italy, which used to have that reputation, but no one can afford such long vacations any more.

August is the very busiest month in most of Ireland -- nothing will be closed.
