My boyfriend and I are planning a trip to Ireland in mid August, but have heard that most of Ireland heads south that month for vacations. Does anyone live there, work there, or just go and play there know whether things will be closed while we are there? If so, we'll postpone our trip...thoughts?

Don't postpone your trip; Ireland is lovely in August. I can't imagine that anything will be closed just because it's August.

No, Ireland does not close down in August.

Nopre that is France and Italy we all take holidays through the year but that is high season for tourists and anyone in a business that caters for it will all be here working. We never take the month off or disappear for a few weeks like our med counterparts.

No Ireland does not close down in August in fact it is their peak time for tourists as it is school holiday time.

No it does not close. Its not Paris and that is the tourist season big time in Ireland...lots of tourists but still wonderful
