LasVegas----music/dancing

Where's a fun place to go dancing on the strip? My girlfriend and I will be there for a convention, and want to go out on the town one night. Not looking for a pick-up joint, just a fun, safe place to dance to some funky tunes.

Beth, give us your age range-it helps. I'm in my 40's and I always enjoy Cleopatra's Barge located in Caesar's Palace. The Imperial Palace opened a new club called Tequila Joe's. There were people of all age ranges having a really good time. The music was great. You can enter it right off the strip. Have fun.

Thx Toni, you're right---age and music preference would probably help!! The 2 of us are in our mid-40's. The Significant Others won't be with us, so aren't into slow-dance tunes, mostly upbeat rock, pop, R&B, recent stuff. Thanks again. (never been to Cleopatra's barge, but thought it looked cool!--thx)

Without a doubt, The VooDoo Lounge at the Rio. It is the best bar in Vegas.

Thanks for the replies---Cleopatra's, Studio 54, Voodoo Lounge---can't wait!! Are sequins and sparkles OK at these places??? We kind of want to dress up for our last night out, but don't want to be wearing "prom" dresses if jeans are in order. Thanks again for your replies.

I would definitely start with cocktails at VooDoo Lounge. The only problem is that is doesn't really have a dance floor. The band is great but you just sort of stand and watch them or mingle about. Anything sparkly is good to wear in Vegas.

I haven't been to Studio 54 but will be there this weekend.

What about Club Rio at the Rio?

Beth, I just thought of another great place to dance. It's located inside of Mandalay Bay. It's an open area with tables and chairs and there's a stage for the band. Sorry I can't think of the name of this area but it's past the popular nightclub where the younger crowd goes. You will see people dancing and having a great time. As for Studio 54 the music was too 'techno' for my taste. Do by all means wear your sparkles and sequins--that's what Vegas is all about. Have a great time!

Thx Toni and everyone!! Next question: do we carry our tennies in a backpack for the walk home afterwards? Or do we just give up the bucks and take a cab? Thanks again.

I know you didn't ask me, but as a big fan of the vegas clubs, just take a cab home-it's sooo worth it.

Beth, don't you dare step out wearing sparkles, sequins and carrying a backpack. Leave the 'tennies' at home under the bed and take a taxi to your final destination. Who knows, you might end up on Taxicab Confessions--I've been trying
