We climbed the stairs between Montgomery and Kearny at Vallejo this morning. Beautiful foliage and views (but steep, and best not done in flip-flops, which I was wearing).

Deb - just reread your post - I knew I read about LOTS of rain somewhere. You still had a great time until the news about your mil. Didn't you come to NY for that or am I confusing you with someone else? I remember a whole discussion about getting on the FDR - lol.

I don't want to jinx myself, but the weather looks amazing for next week. That could be 3 in a row for me!

So what's the story with Irish Coffee at the BV? Do people like it as a tradition or for sentimental reasons or is it really excellent? Thought I could fit it in after the GG Bridge - we might need some sustenance!

I don't usually inquire about dress, but I'm wondering. Here in NY, in September, some people would not wear certain summer things even if it's warm. It just looks, well......summery. What's it like in SF? I'm thinking about night, not day. Should I plan on transitional stuff like at home? I was going to take a black eyelet jacket/top, but I would not wear it here at this point.

Transitional is good all year round in San Francisco. Very few of us have really summery clothes for the city because, as you know, it isn't usually warm enough. I wouldn't hesitate to wear a black eyelet jacket/top any time of year (I'd definitely hesitate before I would wear a white one, though!).

I think you can get away with just about anything in SF CPG. It is a very urban/hip feel imo...

We spent the last three days in the city and it was glorious! The weather was wonderful and got progressively warmer and less foggy each day we were there. There is supposed to be a warming trend all this week. We wish we had brought our shorts and sandals! Have a great time.

iamq - so glad that you had a wonderful celebratory weekend - just knew you would! How was Boulevard? We will try to get to Rangoon on Sat.

Boulevard was spectacular! I just started writing a report of our weekend. I will post about our dinner. When do you leave?

We had our 38th anniversary dinner at Boulevard on Sat. Squab was excellent. So was everything else - especially my "bride".

We're eating in Boulevard this Fri. I loved it last year. Any suggestions from either of you?

The foie gras was superb, even though it had a grape foam on top of it. I normally don't like foam, but this was a nice and delicious touch. They paired the foir gras with grapes, which was an interesting and well done.

My filet was the most delicious piece of meat I have ever tasted. No kidding!

M's lobster was done with accompanied with corn done different ways and was lovely.

cpg, only the tables in the very back have a view (of the Bay Bridge). Otherwise, the way the restaurant is laid out, it's pretty much all the same. I've even sat in the very very front, next to the door, and once seated, didn't notice.

"Has anyone done the tour of City Hall?" - yes, after living here for about 15 years, and loved it! Very interesting, we went into supervisors room (that they show on TV) and all floors. Go there a little early to see the photo exhibit on the 1st floor.

Why not to go into Coit Tower? Walk around it for great views, and see the murals inside, it's free. You pay only for the elevator. Take bus 37 back to North Beach, and have lunch there.

I would take a MUNI bus to Golden Gate bridge, walk to Sausalito, take ferry back to the city.

Thanks Dayenu - visited the Coit Tower twice last year (now I know you don't read my reports - lol - actually who remembers what we read?) I loved the murals, but don't need to see them this time. I also was thinking about a bus from the park to the bridge. I'm going to try to get to City Hall.

sf - last year, we sat near the kitchen and we liked where we sat. I actually didn't even know then that there was a view of the bay from the restaurant!

An hour and half ago, my son was in Bakersfield. What are the chances that he arrives before we do (taking Highway 1)?

Buses from Golden Gate park to the bridge are # 27 and 28. One of them runs on 25th ave, the other... I think it's 19th through the park, then it moves down to Park Presidio (would be 13th ave)
