My family (2 adults and kids aged 9, 8 and 5) will be in Las Vegas in August. Is there anywhere with a nice pool we can stay 5 to a room?

We were going to stay at the Mandalay but they told us they are subject to a building code that permits only 4 to a room. We don't want to split up if we can help it. Any ideas? Price (within reason) is not a key concern.

Try the Rio. The Rio is all large suites and will have something you want, be it connected 2 bedroom, or all one large space.

The Venetian is all suites also, you can have a large room with 2 queen beds and a sofa sleeper.

I just went with 4 other friends last month and we chose to stay in 2 connecting rooms at the Paris. This gives you 2 full baths but of course is a bit more $$. I will definately do it this way again.

Worse comes to worse, there's always the Courtyard by Marriott by the convention center. They will take reservations for two adults and three kids in a room. Not a spectacular pool like at Mirage or Flamingo or MB, but it's cool water in a hole in the ground, and that beats a kick in the head when it's 110F out.

Despite the baking heat, it will be relatively busy in Vegas, so reserve now.

When I stayed in the Rio, it was just one large room. Not a "Suite type" hotel.

Don't know about the pool but there is an Embassy Suites on Paradise Rd. near Hard Rock Hotel. It may be better to forfeit the fancy pool and a cramped hotel room for the space at Embassy Suites tho.

Other then that,if the pool is vitally important, I'd suggest getting two rooms, that way you'd have 2 bathrooms which has got to be a plus with 5 people.

Try not mentioning the 5 yr old.

If you don't mention the 4 year old at Mandalay, they won't get into the pool area. They are not kidding about EVERYONE needing a key to swipe to get in.

Cheap rates are available in August. Book adjoining rooms. You deserve a romantic interlude while the children are enjoying "their own" room.

Here's another vote for the Venetian. Five of us ADULTS stayed in a room in October. Although it was comfortable space-wise, it was a little inconvenient for the bathroom.

So, a mother with 2 kids, and a dad with one kid, and you'd need 5 separate keys to get into the pool? That seems unbelievable. (I never never never let my kids have room keys at that age.)

At Mandalay, the rules are strict on weekends. I walked in five times in six days w/o being checked.

I read somebody's post one day here where they had a similar situation. Their solution was to check in with 4 people and "lose" a key later on to obtain a replacement.

I'm told that Monte Carlo regularly has lower priced rooms. We also walked into their pool area. Hate to be the bad guy, but others are doing this.

As the pro athletes say these days "hate the game, not the player".

My family of 5 also has to deal with this problem while traveling and it is such a pain! We often do not have the $ for that extra room and I really do not like to lie! I have never been to Vegas but other posters have mentioned the Hard Rock Hotel..we stayed at the Hard Rock Orlando last summer and they allowed 5. My kids loved the hotel and pool there. Good Luck!

HI TripleSec--I thought if one "lost" a key, that all keys for said room would be re-programmed making the "unlost" keys non-functional. Am I incorrect?
