Las Vegas Early March Day Activities?

A group of 40 year olds are travling withouth husbands. We are planning on going to the spa...but assume it will be too chilly for the pool. Any creative daytime activities for us?

We would like to limit daytime drinking and gambling and are not interested in outdoor strenous activities. We can splurge.

Any help is appreciated! Also, any weather tips like, specifically, how cold is it likely to be at night, would be great. 1st weekend of March.

Not sure how creative this is but here goes:

Mac King show at Harrahs.
Forum shops at Caesars.
There are some additional afternoon shows that I can't recall all the names of right now.
Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay. While you are there, have a couple martinis at the ice bar.
The rest depends on your interests: Shopping? Wandering? 1st timers? Gawking?

You are correct in your assesment about pool activities. Take a jacket for evenings and a sweater for daytime but there is a possibility that you would want shorts for walking around during the day.

Have fun!

Thanks for the feedback! We have been to Las Vegas many times, but always in warm weather, so we've spent our time by the pool, during the day. We would like to have something a bit planned out, as opposed to wandering, because we think that wandering, for this particluar group, will mean wandering right into the casino and gambling all day and night.

I would suggest that your group might want take a bus day trip to the SOUTH rim of the Grand Canyon. March would be a good time as it should not be crowded. I did this trip on 1/4/07 booked via looktours.com and the actual tour operator being vision tours.

It costs about $60 and lasts from about 6:30 AM to 9:30PM. The bus was comfortable and driver who is the tour guide provided much info up to the Hoover dam and at the Grand Canyon park. The drive is about 4 hours each way but it goes by quick as there is much to view. One may also want to bring something to read.

Some minor items which I highlight. They are bit negative but all-in-all do not keep me from recommending the trip.

First the tour literature included 'delicious buffet' I found this not to be true. The food was terrible. Service was terrible running out of plates the tables dusty and dirty. The buffet was at the Grand Canyon Best Western. The entries were bland fried chicken, tough steak and peppers, and spagetti. The drinks options provided were ice tea and/or water. The extras were lacking such as no butter or condiments(i.e. mayo, ketchup) or salad dressing were provided. I would recommend your group just go to Wendy's in front of the Best Western.

Also worth noting is that the tour operators tell you that you need to where your tour sticker wherever you go. I beg to difer. I believe the reason for this is that when the bus pulls into a truck stop particular tour's driver is perhaps rewarded for brining in customers. On my tour the guide recommended we not buy souviners at the GC park shops and that we instead wait and use a 'recommended' shop on the way back. I found the recommended shop to be expensive and did not offer as much as those in the park. I would recommend using the shops in the park.

Once again, overall a worthwhile trip allowing me to see the GC without having the hassle of driving there myself.

In my earlier posting the price I noted was not correct. The correct price was 85.99. Once again, I feel a good value for the money.

You might get lucky and get pool weather in March. The average high is 69 degrees in March (http://www.vegashotelpools.com/weather.php), so if its a little warmer than normal it would be good enough.
