Totally agree, atilla--they're real journeymen, which is one of the reasons we dig them so much. Someone told me they're the only rock outfit still working with its original lineup...

If you can swing it, you might check out their tour dates online and see if you can build a trip aruond seeing them somewhere--I'd definitely do it again.

Good suggestion E, and keeps it travel related

Interesting fact, wonder if it's true? I can't seem to think of anyone else with all their original members.

We saw Black Sabbath and Judas Priest at Ozzfest in Dallas on Aug. 5. My son said both of those bands were performing with their original members.

Thanks folks for making me feel sooooo old. I don't have a clue who half these people even are. I wonder how many I might have seen, but would never know.

Patrick: If you're not into rock music, you probably haven't seen any of them, but I bet you're familiar with Ozzy (Osbourne), of MTV fame, lead singer of Black Sabbath. (Ever heard of the performer who bit the head off a bat?) Since all the bands previously mentioned debuted in the 70's, their members are undoubtedly as old as (or older than) you and I. By the way, Ozzy's performance at Ozzfest was amazing, considering he is 56 or 57 years old, and broke his neck in an ATV accident in December. It was unbelievable watching him cavort around and jump up and down for an hour and a half, especially after watching him totter around on his show on MTV for 2 years. He seemed to be having a great time, and so did the crowd.

That must have been very cool to see Donna. It's amazing that Ozzy can even perform let alone jump around on stage through a whole show.

Although those bands may have been performing with their original members, to my knowledge, neither Black Sabbath nor Judas Priest are actual "working" bands who are releasing new material. So as E was saying, (and I would be very interested to know for sure) are there any other working bands from the good old days with all original members?

Also--and not to be too much of a stickler about this!--the point is that Rush has maintained its original lineup continuously. That is, Judas Priest replaced at least one member, then dumped the replacement and rehired the original guy. I'm no expert on rock, but I really can't think of another band that fits that definition... (sorry to go so off-track, dwoodliff!)

Hi Atilla! Two concerts we saw most recently with most of the originals were Aerosmith and Bon Jovi.
Joe Perry and Tom Hamilton have been with Steven Tyler forever it seems, and Bon Jovi still includes Tico (Torres?) and Richie Sambora.
Both great concerts, by the way!

ahhh, interesting ellen! Didn't even think of them.

dwoodliff - Sorry we hijacked your post, I should have started a new thread a while back. Please forgive.

atilla, E, ellen, and anyone else ... don't worry about hijacking the post. As you can see from my comments about Ozzy and JP, I contributed to the "hijacking". It's nice to talk about the concerts we've been to; afterall, getting TO them does require a measure of travel.

Now, let's see if I an turn this around ...

I'm still interested in hearing about celebrity sightings in LV, since I'm planning a trip there in October. I'm also hoping to take my family there next summer, and I know they'd get a big kick out of running into a celebrity. Maybe at the Hard Rock???

Oh, I just remembered, my sister-in-law saw Carson Kressley from Queer Eye for the Straight Guy at the Sara McLachlan concert at Mandalay Bay. Those celebs, they're just kind of scattered all around out there!
