Las Vegas Budget Motel
A friend wants to have his Bachelor Party weekend in Las Vegas this coming August, and is looking for a Budget motel to stay at for 2 nights.
Budget would be under $100 per night, for a clean, basic, and safe motel. Can anyone suggest something that fits the bill?
Thanks in advance!

You should be able to find something on the strip. It's brutally hot in August and the hotels offer amazing deals.
Not sure which weekend you're going, but i did a quick search on Hotels.com - you can get the Imperial Palace for $88. I've never stayed there, but it's in a great location.
Also, never book a hotel through a website without calling to see if they'll match the rate. If they do, you can save heaps by not paying the "service fee" that hotels.com, travelocity and others charge.

Thanks BeachBoi and Pomme949 for your suggestions.
The weekend will be either August 17th-19th or 24th-26th. There will be 4 guys (unless more decide to come), so they'll need 2 rooms, with 2 double beds in each. Looks like Motel 6 might work.
I'll look into Hotels.com too, and thanks for the advice on calling the Hotel/Motel directly before booking.

I think if you have a chance to stay at a casino hotel for a just a little more money, you should do it. I like to travel around to different places when I'm there, but its very nice to be able to gamble and eat, and, especially, drink at the place I'm staying late at night. The Orleans has a 125 rate that weekend, and has a nice casino, a couple of nice restaurants, pool, etc. Its right off-strip. As Pomme 949 said, August in Vegas can be a bargain, a much better one if you can go mid-week, but you should still find something on or right off the strip for a little more than 100. Then you can check some review sites to see if you'd like it there. try cheapovegas.com and tripadvisor.com.

Hey redhead04..
August is so cheap in Vegas and you can get a decent hotel on the strip or downtown for under $100..
August is usually 115+ degrees and trust me, you don't want to be at a Motel 6 in Vegas when it is that hot..
Checked Expedia and for under $100..
Imperial Palace, Sahara, Stratosphere, Palace Station, Golden Nugget, Four Queens, Binions, Orleans & The Plaza..

Whatever you do, DON'T stay at the Econolodge on the highway -- worst hotel I have ever stayed at in my entire life! (And actually, Circus Circus is in the bottom five.)
I think you can usually find a room at NYNY or Aladdin for under $100, especially if you look on Expedia. It'll be worth it.

You may want to check out downtown for your party. Main Street Station, Vegas Club, the Plaza, the California, the Fremont and Four Queens. Lots of choices and I think they'll all be under a $100 a night on an August weekend.

I'd highly recommend staying on the strip. It may cost a few dollars more but it's worth it for the convenience. Bills Gambling Hall & Saloon which used to be called Barbary Coast will probably meet your needs. I haven't stayed there but have heard it's OK, and the location is the best on the strip. I checked their web site and they had rooms for the weekend you're looking at for $110 per night. Also Excalibur is a decent choice. It's rates were $140 per night for the same weekend. Circus Circus had rooms for $100 but it's out of the way (despite being on the strip) and I wouldn't recommend it. Good luck!

Thanks for all your replies.
I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed, there seems to be a lot to choose from. From what the guys tell me, they don't want plush, just somewhere clean and safe to lay their heads down after playing all day/night. They'll have a car, so it doesn't have to be in walking distance, but of course that would be nice.
Hot Wire is telling me they can get a 4-star hotel in Near Strip East for $62 a night per room. That sounds good, but I don't know what Hotel it is.

I did a quick search on Hotwire and think I found the offer that you got. Looking at the map of Hotwire's Near Strip East and places that have a casino in them (since the listing said it had a casino), I think they may be offering a room at the Hooters hotel/casino. There are a few other possibilities such as Las Vegas Hilton, Tuscany, Ellis Island, and Terribles but I don't think Ellis Island would qualify as a 4 star because it's a Super 8 hotel. Also I checked the Hilton's web site for Aug 17 (because I have no desire to do real work today) and it came up as closed (may just mean that there are no available rooms)for that Friday. Given your criteria, you'll probably be happy with these options but please don't quote me on that because I've never used Hotwire. If you do choose this one, let us know where they put you. I'm curious to see.

I thought I posted this yesterday.
FYI - At Harrahs.com under "hot deals", those nights are listed at $119.

Don't know if the guys have been to Vegas before, but IMHO, it is much easier to stay on the strip. Plus, they don't have to worry about driving if they drink too much.
