I don't personally know anyone who's ever stayed there, but all the comments I've ever read were negative.
I can't believe their rates could be low enough to make it worth staying there versus one of the cheaper casino hotels nearby.
Why did you choose Boardwalk?

Flamingo is often one of the best values on the strip. Don't stay at the HI Boardwalk.
I'll save you the trouble of your next post too... i wouldn't stay at the Stratosphere either.
If Flamingo isn't in your budget, you can also try Tropicana (non-Garden rooms though, you want to stay in one of the 'towers'). Not sure when you're going or when they're tearing down the property, but heard reports it will be happening soon enuff.

Ewww... I wouldn't stay there! We stayed at Monte Carlo last summer and walked through the Boardwalk casino. It was very dingy and the bathrooms were filthy. If the casino is any indication, the hotel probably isn't much better.

I've stayed at the Boardwalk several years back in my college days. Picture a very old Motel 6 that hasn't had a good remodel or refit in ten years or so.
The beds were clean, the A/C worked just fine, the linens clean, no sanitation issues... but the room definetly could have used some fresh paint and carpet. It is NOT a resort and it is NOT plush, but it was a decent bed and the pool was not crowded.
The casino was the worst part of the hotel, but they did have cheap blackjack tables which we enjoyed late at night after returning from the real casinos and the nightclubs.

Never stayed here but the previous poster has it right. Not a fancy or large casino but perfect for learning table games or a warm up/cool down before/after the bigger, 'higher stress' casinos. And...even if you're not a fan of Prince, everybody has to check out Purple Rain on the stage off to the side of the casino. It's a cover band that plays Prince tunes. I think the show starts at 10:30, 5 or 6 days a week. The guys who plays Prince has it all down to a T...voice, dance moves, attitude. His band sounds good but that's where the resemblance ends. None of his band mates look like any one in Revolution. It's classic and free.

We stayed there several years ago, when it was a HI(don't know if it still is )
At first, we were disappointed, It was not the LAS VEGAS type of hotel. Just called an 800 # and booked it, without any internet advise.
Then we checked in and really appreciated the location, size of rooms, and no-muss, no-fuss casino. We then went to alot of the other hotels, casinos.
And were happy where we were, esp. with the Strip-view room, and no big casino to walk thru. I guess you could call it old-fashioned, but we like it.

We stayed there several years ago...they were remodeling at the time...and it was kinda fun because you could play cheaply and still have fun.The rooms were clean, but since they were remodeling...very early in the am...they started hammering and pounding.....The place suited us just fine...none of the big casino stuff. The price was right. My friends were at Harrahs.....so, they were paying more, but not sure their room was any better. If I could get a decent rate would probably stay there again...Have read some really good reviews of The Barbary Coast....Check it out...The location is wonderful!!
