Lake Powell/Page Activities

We'll be in Page at the end of July. I have read that the best time to view Upper Antelope Slot Canyon is between 11-1. That probably doesn't work, as we're hoping to do a 1:30-6:15 float trip on the same day. Has anyone done an early morning tour of the canyon? If we go on a 9:30 or 10:00 tour, will it be sunny enough to get an appreciation of the beauty of it? Also, any recommendations of places for dinner? We're staying at the Lake Powell Resort (was Waweap Lodge).

When we did Upper Antelope Slots it was around noon. Parts of the canyon was pretty dark, but other sections had light. When we walked back though the canyon, it was more sun light coming though and it looked a lot better. Then sunrays were coming though in one section and it was really a special time. Our guide said that different times of the day brings out different features in the canyon...so I don't think you can go wrong.

We ate at the Wahweap Marine twice and really enjoyed it. It's right there at the Lake Powell Resort. GREAT VIEWS!

Would you think I need to make reservations ahead of time for dinner there? Also, did you eat at the Arizona Room or at the (don't know the name) lounge?

We ate at the lounge. Infact, the second time we ate out by the pool.
