LA- Westin Bonaventure
Hi everyone.
I'll be in LA for a few days staying at the Westin Bonaventure downtown. Anyone stay at this hotel recently. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. I got a great deal through Priceline. Couldn't get more convenient/interesting/safer areas w/Priceline for dates needed.
Thanks.
Ross

Why are you staying there? A firm where I used to work and still do business with puts their cleitns up there. It is across the street from an "underground mall" w/a food court and one dept. store anchor and a few specialty stores. It is fairly close to the convention center. Downtown LA is not the best place to stay. Hope you have a car.

p.s. the last time I was in this hotel was in July '05. I stayed somewhere else in Century City but I was downtown on Figueroa for work and went to see a colleague who was being put up at the Westin. It is a nice enough hotel, a typical Westin, a bit old but not too bad.

Find out what's at the Ahmanson/Music Center and get your tickets.....take the Metro subway up to Hollywood and Highland for dinner at Vert and to visit the Kodak (Oscars) theatre and the walk of fame. Might be a good show at the Pantages, or head up to Universal Studios for the tour or just for dinner/people watching at their Citywalk...easily accessible by subway from downtown. Beaches/Beverly Hills are pretty much non-accessible without a car unless you want to spend 2 hours one-way on the bus, or spend $60 one-way in a taxi.

The Walt Disney Concert Hall is definitely worth a look, whether or not there is a performance happening there: (www.musiccenter.org).
Just a short walk away is the Downtown Museum of Contemporary Art (www.moca.org)
There is a King Tut exhibit going on at the L.A. County Museum of Art (www.LACMA.org)
The Staples Center will have Hockey, Pre-season basketball (Lakers and Clippers) and a U-2 Concert going on next week.
You can also head over to the Fashion District www.fashiondistrict.org if that interests you at all.
There is also a revolving cocktail lounge at the top of the Bonaventure that has a nice view of the city.
