Kingwood TX..a few questions.

Getting ready to move to Kingwood and would like to get some feedback on cable vs satellite. Which companies are better? Is outage a problem with satellite? Also, phone service, anyone use Embarq? We are debating whether to keep our Embarq phone service that we have now in NJ and just transfer it to TX.

Thanks!!
(if I shouldn't be using this forum for this type of question, just tell me where to go! )

I have found the following website to be more helpful with re-location questions...

Christine,

Welcome to Texas! Kingwood is a beautiful city. I can't comment much regarding the cable company (Comcast?) because I have always had satellite (Directv), but when we have big storms come through, we do lose satellite for a minute or two. You may also want to chose based on how many trees are around your home. Pines can sway quite a bit with the wind and may interfere with reception. Regarding Embarq, we have used them for business because they were the only ones who offered service at the time and we never had a problem. You may just have to look online at rates and service and compare. You may also want to look into package deals with Comcast and ATT (who also offers digital cable in some areas).

AnnMarie, thanks for that link--that's what I was looking for.

seashell-looked into Comcast and they don't have cable in our area yet but are checking to see when/who will be there (new subdivision). So will probably just transfer our Dish and Embarq to Kingwood for now. Thanks!!

Christine, I'm glad to see you found a place you like. Kingwood is a nice area - 3 people in my office live there and love it - close to Houston, but still has that homey feel with lots of trees.
