Key West sights

Have both custom house and light house on my list. Seems $17 each. Is one better than the other?

How “worth it” is Fort Zach?

I liked but did not love Fort Zachary Taylor -my husband found it more interesting. I, however, preferred the Custom House so you can see how you may get different opinions! By the way, if you buy tickets online, they cost $15.50. We did not get to the Lighthouse.

Our favorite activities were the the Hemingway House and Truman's "Little White House" but we are literature and history buffs.

I almost forgot another top "attraction" - deciding which place had the best Key Lime pie.

I would 100% pick the light house over the Custom House if I had to pick one.

Yes, the Dry Tortugas are worth it IF you have ample time in your schedule. It is a full day activity, unless you take a float plane, so I wouldn't go if you're only spending a short time in Key West.

Things to see/do include, the Butterfly and Nature Conservancy, Secret Garden, 1846 Key West Lighthouse, Heritage House, and Key West Aquarium. Try to go on a sunset cruise and eat fresh seafood.

We're planning on taking a return trip to Key West, so I'm bookmarking for all this good information. Thanks. We loved Hemingway House and the plane to Dry Tortugas on previous trips.

I'm with KT -- Hemingway House and Truman's "Little White House", loved, loved, love both!

Oh, and for bars, definitely the Green Parrot.

We were in Key West recently as we added a few days to drive down following a weekend wedding in Miami. Had been there once before on a cruise stop about 20 years ago for an afternoon. We had two nights there staying at the Doubletree and taking advantage of their hourly shuttle to get back and forth. My favorite was the Truman Little White House. The most interesting tour which was informative as we had a great guide and of course we are quite familiar with Truman and the history of his tenure. The Hemingway House was interesting but not that informative about Hemingway the writer. The guide seemed more intent upon telling everyone about the cats as most people seemed to be more interested in that. Hemingway was more widely read when I was both in high school and in college but I know quite a bit about him and his history, especially from watching the PBS documentary about him a few years ago.
If we had more time we would have opted for a sunset cruise. We did walk around a fair amount but it was hot, humid and pretty crowded.
