Kenai or Prince William

Taking a short trip to Alaska (7 days) the end of May. Which would be a better one day cruise, Kenai Fjord or Prince William Sound?

Both are excellent what is your timeframe?? Whittier you can do with a day trip from Anchorage. Seward requires an overnight in my opinion. Whittier is far more scenery and ice. Seward is way more wildlife.

My vote goes to Kenai Fjords cruise - at least six hours. It's an awfully long day if you try to commute from Anchorage. I recommend spending a night or two in Seward.

Thanks for the input. I think I've decided on the Kenai Fjord route and spending a night in Seward. Planning on going Memorial Day weekend. Hope to beat the crowds but still enjoy the sights with decent weather.

Northwestern Fjords cruise from Seward was fantastic !! I would add: a must !!
A downside is that it is in open ocean and seasickness may occurr (we were very lucky), while no problems at all on PWS !!

We did the Kenai Northwestern Fjords trip last year on Memorial Day weekend. The boat was full but not crowded--still a few seats vacant. I cannot recommend this trip strongly enough--a humpback breached about 30 ft from the boat, plus we saw LOTS of other wildlife and the glaciers alone make the trip worthwhile. Our boat captain loved Alaska and nature and he was a great orator for the trip, and that was exactly what we wanted! ;-) We used the Scop transderm patches for seasickness and they worked well. We used the 2 nights for 1 toursaver coupon at the Kenai Princess, and loved it! It was an easy drive to/from Seward, very little traffic on Sunday before Memorial day, 2005.

Enjoy your trip!
