Kauai Car Rental--Best Deals?

We're going to Kauai for five nights next month---anyone have recommendations or caveats on any car rental companies there? We don't need anything fancy, but compacts aren't big enough for my 6' 3" DH. There will just be the two of us, and we're staying in the Poipu Beach area. Thank you!

No help....just realize that Thrifty is no longer at the airport and the shuttle bus to the satelite location took too long on our recent trip. For a fantastic rate....maybe.

Aloha and Hawaiian, and many other airlines, have recommended rental car places which can often be cheaper than book ing with the companies directly. Going thru Aloha last yr saved me 50%.
Othe sites to try are priceline, breezenet, expedia.
In the past I've used Alamo for Lihue pickup. Good prices and no problems.

Alohaaaa,
6'4" checkin' in....got a full size for about $20/day, unlimited miles (unlimited miles on Kauai-heh heh heh-where yah gonna go?) from Priceline.

Just remember, once you book, you bought!
We used it last year and had no problem other than the one rental was off premises. (Due to logistics, we had to break it up 7 days-14 days.)

Sometimes the traffic on that little stretch before the airport can get bogged down purdy good so allow a reasonable amount of time if you're going to leave around a.m rush, lunchtime or 4:30ish rush.

Hey Kal~~I took your advice on Priceline--got the $20 deal also. Thanks for the guidance. It's Alamo for $137 for 5 days, including all taxes and fees--and of course, 'unlimited' Kauai miles! Mr. Moondoggie will appreciate that.

Well alright moondoggie!

First thing you do is kiss your sweetie good bye at the plane and hightail it to a shuttle bus to Alamo. Don't hesitate! Position yourself to be first off/first in line at checkin and you to may break my rental car/luggage pickup to 10 minutes flat! Always be kind and courteous and show the aloha spirit! The idea is the other moondoggie stays for luggage, meets you kurbside and you are out of there!!! Many foolish people spend over an hour picking up the rental....time is precious! You need to speed it up to get down to relaxing on island time!!! Fun!!!!!

Will do, gyppielou!
That is our usual M.O. when returning to our home airport--one gets the car, and the other waits at the carousel and hopes to see our bags show up. That would be MY small carryon and HIS 26" jumbotron...what a fashion plate...
