Kauai beaches with BBQ grills?
My daughter is getting married on Kauai on a beach and after the wedding we were hoping to have a get together to BBQ. There will be about 20 people. I checked at my resort if they could accomodate us and they said no, the BBQ area is guests only. Are there any beaches that have BBQ grills where we can have about 20 people get together? She is getting married on the East side of Kauai. Also, if there is a place with grills, I assume its a first come first serve thing. Is there a way to reserve an area? Thanks.

I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure you need a permit to have a wedding on the beach and there are lots of rules about chairs etc. So I'm guessing you would also need permitting to have a bbq for 20 people. And what will you do with the trash etc. Tables? Chairs? Goodluck!

She has a wedding planner helping with the wedding details but I don't think the planner is involved with everyone getting together after. Any idea who I contact for a permit for the BBQ? It will be at a different beach then the wedding. The resort I'm staying at recommended Lydgate beach picnic area.

I think your resort had a good suggestion, this does seem to have everything you want. But as vacationers you will have to purchase and carry in a lot of stuff you will not be packing In your suitcases for a barbecue for 20. It might not be a bad idea to check with the wedding planner for advice/suggestions.

I agree. The logistics of hosting a BBQ as travelers is a lot of work. Purchase of coolers, ice, food, utensils, a table for prep, tablecloths if picnic benches are available, beverages, maybe a couple of weber grills? At least buy new grills as I wouldn't want to eat off public grills - or lots of tin foil. Water jugs for food prep. Time will be required to provision this. Unless you are going real old school and only need a couple of coolers of ice, some hot dogs and burgers, store bought potato/pasta salad etc, some charcoal and beach mats. That doesn't sound like a wedding reception to me. It is definately possible to create a great ohana bbq, but as a visitor it will require a great deal of time/prep.
